What is ETA-IL?

The rules to visit Israel have changed. As of August 1st, 2024 travelers of Visa-exempt countries must apply for an ETA-IL (Electronic Traveling Authorization) to enter Israel. An approved ETA-IL allows you to enter and stay for up to 90 days per visit.

All travelers that head to Israel must have a valid Visa or approved ETA-IL before starting the trip. If you are eligible, applying for an ETA-IL is a simple and quick process.

Note: Israeli citizens or holders of Israeli ID numbers do not need to apply for an ETA-IL.

Questions:

Getting your ETA-IL allows you to enter and stay in Israel for up to 90 days, per
trip, for a two-year period. If you plan to stay for longer than 90 days or if your purpose is
other than tourism or business, you must apply for a Visa at the Israeli embassy in your
country.

Applications may be done at any moment before the trip to Israel. The
Population and Immigration Authority recommends presenting the application for a
traveling authorization at least 72 hours before purchasing airplane tickets or booking
hotel rooms, as well as other related extensions of your visit to Israel, and 7 business days
before boarding.

An ETA-IL is usually valid for multiple trips within a two-year period starting on
the date your application is approved or until the expiration date on your passport,
whichever happens first. Meaning that, as long as you have received an ETA-IL
authorization to travel, you won’t have to request another one during the valid period. If
your ETA-IL expires while you are in Israel, this will not affect the return to your home
country.

You may correct it before sending it. The final stage of the application allows
you to review your information. Once it is sent, you won’t be able to correct any details
and, therefore, you will need to restart the process, fill a new form and pay another fee.

If you are a American citizen, holder of a valid American passport, it is required
that you apply for an ETA-IL. If you own a passport or citizenship from a country other than
United States, make sure you check the rules in the link below.
